Gunning Electric Trench
Heating Installation
When considering the
location of the casing, the following should be considered.
The heater casing is a natural
convector, and requires maximum freedom of air movement around it. If the casing
is to be sited by an external wall, the heating element should be sited on the
room side. This will encourage the cold down draught of air, from the outer
wall or window, to enter the intake side of the casing. This will maximise the efficiency of the
heater. Curtains, Drapes or Blinds should not be sited directly over the casing
under a height of 300mm above the grille.
If the casing should become
covered by carpet or furniture reducing the air flow through the casing, the
heater will shut off when the internal casing temperature reaches 71 deg
centigrade, and will automatically reset when the temperature fall below 55 deg
centigrade.
The trench heating is supplied
fully assembled, and wired internally to a ceramic three way terminal block.
Connections to the terminal block should only be made by qualified personnel.
The unit should be wired from a local isolator fitted with an appropriately
rated fuse. A compression cable gland connector is fitted to the cable entry
end of the casing.
Setting the casing in
position
To position the casing, remove
the roll up grille (11) and the protective wire mesh (9). Fit the 8 No. 8mm
levelling bolts (13) into the nutserts in the base of
the casing. Place the casing into the required position and adjust the levelling
bolts to raise the casing to the required height. After the casing height has
been set and levelled the casing can be fixed in position using an 8 mm all
metal trough bolt anchor or equivalent (not supplied). Using a long reach 8mm
drill bit, drill into the floor slab through the 10mmm
fixing holes at each end of the casing. Allow for the nut on the fixing to be
set at approximately half way down the thread. Place the bolt in position and
tighten until the casing is firm. Re-check the casing height and re-adjust if
required.
In case of water spillage there
is a 10mm hole in the centre of the base of the casing to allow liquids to
drain away.
After the casing has been fixed
and the electrical connection has been made and tested, you should make sure that
no debris or combustible materials have been left in the casing. Re-Fix the
wire mesh and replace the roll up grille.
