Gunning
Trench Heating
Description
Gunning Trench Heating has been designed to be installed within a floor void to enable the maximum available floor space to be utilized. The Trench units are supplied in various sizes to suit output, pipe-work configurations and floor depths, normally to customer specifications.
Flexible aluminium cross blade grille is available as standard, in a silver anodised finish.
Other colours are available on request.
INSTALLATION
PROCEDURE
Stage 1
Before attempting to install firstly check that all components are available and that contract layout drawings have been forwarded from your offices, or with the equipment.
Stage 2
Refer to cross-section drawings attached for fixing method.
Arrangement 1 Drawing Floor GUN03 False Floor
Arrangement 2 Drawing Floor GUN04 Solid Floor
Arrangement 3 Drawing Floor GUN05 Timber Floor
Stage 3
It is important that the Trench is prepared prior to installation of casing, and that the correct depth is available and has been adequately levelled (dependent upon method).
Please note that carpet thickness etc, should be taken into account as shown on cross-section.
Stage 4
Trench units are supplied to site in lengths to suit the overall run dimensions. Each intermediate joint allows a tolerance of +/- 25mm to take up building variations.
We suggest all sections are laid out along the heater run, equally spaced so that all gaps are of a similar size.
NOTE: The air inlet should be positioned adjacent to the external wall/window.
At the end of each run the last section is fitted with an end stop.
At corners, fix the corner to the adjacent trench section direct, using pop rivets.
An intermediate joint between 2 sections of trench is fitted with a joining strap, which has a slide fitting and offers 25mm of adjustment.
When fixing joining straps to sections, ensure overall width of trench is maintained.
Lay assembled casing into Trench, and make final connections using suitable fixing screws to suit its location.
Stage 5
Arrange heating elements on floor adjacent to casings. Space elements to give equal distribution along length of Trench. (See layout drawings for size and position). Lay element assembly into casing and make final connections.
Stage 6
Fit splitter plates (Baffles) into corresponding case sections. These items are simply hooked over hanger brackets pre-fitted into case sections.
Cross braces should now be fitted to maintain case width.
Stage 7
Grille rails can now be cut to size and fitted, joint should be arranged to fall along a section of trench casing and avoid joining straps if at all possible. Rails should be fixed at one metre intervals using pop rivets. Grilles can be fitted. Ends trimmed to suit.
Important
If site is not ready
for handover, to prevent damage occurring to finished grilles, we would suggest
that this stage is delayed as long as possible and that a suitable board is
laid into the casing to protect the heating elements.
